Coming together… POP Report released!

Apr 27, 2026 | News and Events, Protect Our Places, Publications

We are are very pleased to share our newest report, Protect Our Places: Coming together to demand more racially-just urban planning in London. In this report, we reflect on our POP coalition work since 2023.

Protect Our Places brings together 11 anti-gentrification campaigns from across London, all of whom are fighting to protect the markets, town centres, high streets and other affordable retail spaces that are at the heart of their communities. Although we face distinct contexts and challenges, we recognise that we are facing the same systemic patterns of development and displacement. As of April 2026, the groups joining Latin Elephant include:

  • Catford Against Social Cleansing
  • Fight the Tower/Save International House (fka Save Nour)
  • Friends of Queen’s Market
  • Friends of Shepherd’s Bush Market
  • Plush SE16
  • Save Brick Lane
  • Deptford High Street
  • Save Ridley Road
  • Wards Corner Community Benefit Society
  • + an emerging grassroots campaign at Tooting Market

To gain a deeper understanding of campaigns from across the city who are all fighting to keep the traders and shops who are essential to our communities from being displaced, you can read the report in full below!
